Administration
CIE is committed to excellence in all aspects of teaching and academic support. In 2012, the College Director is leading a team of academic support staff with four Associate Heads designated for the Kowloon Tong and Shek Mun Campuses. As for full-time teaching staff, the College now has over 200 teaching staff of which around 45 are from various academic departments of the University.
CIE has established an organizational and management structure which emphasizes ample consultation opportunities, proper lines of supervision, effective communication and feedback as well as quality assurance mechanisms.
The Programme Advisory Committee provides advice on the overall programme operation and management. In particular, it assists the CIE in planning and reviewing the Associate Degree Programme and Associate Degree Foundation Programme in relation to community needs and future development as well as acting as an interface among the industry / business / education / government sectors, the community at large and CIE. The Executive Committee sets the direction for the strategic development of the College.
On the operational level, the Programme Board takes care of major academic affairs, such as curriculum development and revision, as well as improvement of the teaching programmes of CIE. In addition, it takes care of the running and implementation of the programmes, monitors the quality of the programmes and assesses the extent to which the course objectives are being met.
The Programme Management Committee aims to co-ordinate day-to-day operations of the programmes, ensure their smooth running as well as provide administrative support to the programmes. Specific working groups or special taskforces are formed as needed to execute task-specific duties, whilst consultation meetings, briefing sessions, sharing sessions and staff professional development days are organized to brainstorm, inform and collect views amongst those concerned.
CIE places a strong emphasis on the integration of the strengths of the Academic and Academic Registry Support Services to provide students with the best learning experience.
