As part of the learning journey, CIE students from the concentration studies of Tree Management have undertaken chainsaw training recently. Chainsaw is the only equipment used in industry that does not contain a guard on the moving cutting parts. It is because the cutting chain travels at speeds of approximately 60 meters per second when it is being used, ultra-care is required when operating it. In view of this, the College offered specialised training to ensure students can manage the equipment safely when using it.

During the workshop, students learnt how to maintain the chainsaws and used them correctly when pruning trees. The experience and knowledge that they have gained in the chainsaw course will provide them with the skills they need for their future study and careers.
