CIE Computer Studies students visit the MTR

COMS students and lecturers learned about how computer systems upkeep the efficiency of the railway network.

To gain an exposure of how information systems work in the Mass Transit Railway of Hong Kong, over 20 students and lecturers from the Computing Studies Concentration Studies (COMS) paid a visit to the MTR Kowloon Station on 9th October 2014.

 

The group was warmly received by the Operations Team at Kowloon Station and was briefed by the Station Manager on the various automated operation systems of the MTR including the Airport Express, the free In-town Check-in Services of the Hong Kong International Airport and the Station Control Room.

 

All students found the visit eye-opening as it enabled them to gain a better understanding of how the computer systems in the Station Control Room were run and monitored by the efficient MTR network.
