Shek Mun Campus
Space Enhancement

About the Project

To meet the growing and evolving needs of our campus operations, the School of Continuing Education (SCE) has engaged professional consultancy services for the renovation and space enhancement of the Shek Mun Campus.

This project brings exciting elements to our campus which include new classrooms, laboratories, student amenities, and offices, while upgrading building systems to better support the needs of our students and staff. These enhancements create a modern, welcoming environment designed to enrich teaching and learning, and fostering greater collaboration across our community.

New Teaching Facilities and Major Works

Renovation/Re-layout of Library Area:
The 4th floor is home to the library’s print collection, and it is evolving into something even more exciting. As part of the renovation, some bookshelves make way for vibrant collaborative learning spaces designed to bring students together, spark ideas, and support group study. While the physical collection is streamlined, the Library offers an outstanding range of e resources — and we remain committed to expanding and enhancing them, so you always have access to the materials you need, anytime and anywhere.  Floor Plan (4/F)

New Teaching Facilities: New classrooms and modern laboratories had been constructed on the 1st, 4th & 13th floors.

Collaborative Learning Hub: We recognize how valuable study and collaborative learning space is, and we are excited to share that sections of the 5th and 6th floors will be transformed into a new collaborative learning hub. This vibrant hub extends to the podium garden, offering students more room to connect, study together, and enjoy a refreshing environment that supports both focus and teamwork.  Floor Plan (5/F and 6/F)

Re-layout of Student Development Centre: The re-layout of the Centre on the 6th floor is intended to support the expansion and diversification of student services in response to rising demand for Counselling and SEN services.

Other Improvements: Enhancements will be made to the lift system and the open podium on the 5th floor in the coming years.

Disturbance from Site Work

As site work progresses in various locations, some unavoidable noise, vibration, and dust may occur. We will strive to minimize its impact by shortening periods of heavy noise and implementing effective mitigation measures. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and appreciate your understanding.

Limited access to the work area

There may be occasional restrictions on access to the work area or related floors. To facilitate construction, some facilities will be temporarily closed, and campus furniture and arrangements in common areas may be altered or removed. Please refer to the latest notices for detailed arrangements.

With works of this scope and scale, disruption and disturbance were unavoidable. However, the outcome is a modern space that greatly enhances the campus environment for the benefit of the HKBU community.
