CIE students support the Davis Cup Hong Kong Tie
BackThe Davis Cup, often referred as the “World Cup of Tennis”. The Davis Cup World Group I Play-offs — Hong Kong, China V.S. Finland was held in February 2026 at Victoria Park Tennis Court. A team of 50 students from the Bachelor of Social Sciences (Honours) in Sport and Recreation Leadership programme took up duties at the event, gaining hands-on experience on how to assist and co-organise international sports competition.
Over two days of thrilling battles, these students took on a variety of roles, including court service, logistics, ticket checking, gate control, and serving as VIP area stewards. Their contributions helped ensure a seamless and enjoyable experience for players and spectators. This valuable learning experience allowed students to understand the complex processes and arrangements involved in organising international sports events, while strengthening their teamwork, communication, and problem-solving skills.
Participating in such a high-profile sports event enabled students to enjoy world class matches, connect with fellow volunteers and tennis enthusiasts from around the world, and experience the united spirit of international competition. Beyond the matches, the experience helped them develop new skills, make friendships, and explore future plans in the sports industry.
