Marketing students showcase learning outcomes through StudyFest
BackA group of Year 4 students from the Bachelor of Commerce (Honours) in Marketing programme embarked on a field study to Hangzhou earlier this year, visiting leading enterprises and gaining first-hand exposure to developments in e‑commerce, smart living, artificial intelligence, and digital marketing.
Building on this experience, students recently presented their learning outcomes through StudyFest, a learning showcase themed “Marketing Journeys from Study to Story.” The exhibition brought together the Hangzhou tour and students’ study at CIE into a structured and shareable record of learning. They engaged audiences through a live‑streamed session before showcasing their work across on‑site exhibition zones using display boards, photographs, tasting elements, visuals, and videos. The exhibits highlighted enterprise observations, interpretations of digital transformation, and students’ journeys of teamwork and personal development.
The showcased content covered marketing and technological innovation, as well as urban and cultural observations, while demonstrating students’ development in communication, collaboration, and digital tool application. By moving beyond the classroom into real business environments, students translated academic concepts into applied learning experiences grounded in industry practice.
“StudyFest gave us the opportunity to step back and reflect on what we learned during the Hangzhou tour,” said Jacky Gao, student‑in‑charge and project leader. “By turning our experiences into an exhibition, we learned how to organise insights, communicate ideas clearly, and connect marketing concepts with real‑world practice.” To further consolidate the learning journey, students also produced a highlight video documenting the project.
StudyFest illustrated how the BCom in Marketing programme adopts experiential and outcomes‑based learning to support students in transforming a study trip into a meaningful learning experience.
