石门校园学生发展中心举办日本关西游学团

This summer, the Shek Mun Campus Student Development Centre organised a diverse range of summer activities, including a study tour to Kansai, Japan. Joined by 11 students from various programmes, the tour covered various parts of the region—Osaka, Kyoto, and Nara, offering participants a unique and immersive opportunity to explore Japanese culture and society.

To ensure students were well-prepared, the Centre arranged a series of pre-tour training sessions, such as basic language training, an etiquette workshop, and an organic farming experience.

During their time in Osaka, the group visited a local elderly centre, where they engaged in interactive activities with the residents. This meaningful experience allowed students to connect with the elderly community and gain valuable insights into the care and support services available for senior citizens in Japan.

The group also visited Kyoto University for a cultural exchange, where they met with local student representatives and learned about academic training and campus life in Japan.

A true highlight of the study tour was the rural homestay in Nara. The group was warmly welcomed into the daily life of the Japanese countryside. The students took part in farming activities, cooked traditional meals with their host families, and shared cultural stories.

Li Han Shun, a student studying the Associate Degree in Chinese for Professional Purposes, shared that although they did not speak the same language, the smiles and positive body language broke through every barrier.

All participants agreed that the tour was a profoundly memorable and enriching experience. It broadened their horizons, deepened their appreciation for Japanese culture, and left them with lasting friendships and invaluable life lessons. This transformative journey will undoubtedly continue to inspire our students as they advance in their academic and personal development.
