College English Taster

Online Submission of Photo for Student Card and its Collection

  • Students can retrieve their Student Number via this link on 18 Aug 2023. They should upload a colour passport photo to the University Student Card Photo Upload System during 18 – 23 Aug 2023. For details of retrieving Student Number, please refer to the Student Orientation Guide.
  • The schedule for collection of Student Card will be sent to students’ HKBU email in early September.
  • Students who are under 18 years old (as of 1 Sept 2023) should complete and return the Letter of Consent to the College when they collect the Student Card.

Orientation Schedule

The New Student Orientation activities are designed to prepare new students for a smooth transition to college study. New students should attend the orientation activities.

 New Student Orientation
Students will meet up with the Lecturers of their Concentration Studies in the orientation. The academic requirement of the Associate Degree Programme, the study path and the articulation of the respective Concentration Studies will be introduced.

  • Students will gain an overall picture of useful resources and diverse experience obtainable in the College.

Mainland and non-local students do not need to apply for online participation for the New Student Orientation on 22-24 August. They will receive an email of the links for online participation 2 days before the New Student Orientation.

Those who have arrived HK are expected to attend the New Student Orientation on-site.

*For students under the  Professional Communication and English Studies Programme who will join the Orientation activities on 23 August, please wear sports shoes.

Cantonese Enrichment Course

Application Period :– 8 Aug
Cantonese in Daily Life 生活粵語
This course is recommended for Putonghua speakers in achieving some competency in Cantonese for everyday communication. This course is designed to help students in the phonetic patterns, sentence structure and vocabulary of Cantonese with focus on the linguistic differences between Putonghua as a language and Cantonese as a dialect in Hong Kong daily conversation.

Course Duration 4 Sept to 11 Nov (25 hours; 2.5 hours per week)
Tuition Fee $300 (Non-refundable and non-transferable)
Payment Due Date 8 Aug

No adding/dropping of the course is allowed once you have submitted the application.
