2+2 Seamless Articulation

HKBU’s Seamless 4-year Admission Scheme (SFAS) aims to provide a direct and seamless “2+2” articulation pathway for all eligible local and non-local applicants. Applicants who have fulfilled the admission requirements may be offered both HKBU Associate Degree Programme (AD) and Self-funded Undergraduate Programme (UG) upon admission. Under this Scheme, AD students would be articulated to the relevant Self-funded Undergraduate Programme offered by HKBU upon successful completion of the 2-year AD Programme, and awarded an HKBU Honours Degree in 4 years.

Eligibility

Meeting the University Entrance Requirements of HKBU:

HKDSE

DSE scores of 33222 or above with Level 3 or above in both Chinese Language and English Language and Level 2 or above in Mathematics, Liberal Studies and one Elective subject

JEE (Gao Kao)

Scores meeting the first-tier of the respective province and recognised English Language qualifications# ∆

IB Diploma

IB Diploma with a score of 24 or above and recognised English Language qualifications# ∆

International Qualifications

12-year pre-university schooling with satisfactory results of national or public examinations (GCE-AL, SAT, IB etc.) and recognised English Language qualifications# ∆

    Applicants must fulfill the University Entrance Requirements as stipulated in the HKBU AR website and applications will be considered on a case-by-case basis.

Selection Criteria

Applicants must

  1. be admitted to the HKBU AD Programme;
  2. meet the University Entrance Requirements of HKBU; and
  3. undergo the SFAS selection and/or interview process conducted by the respective Faculty/Department of HKBU.

Eligible applicants will be shortlisted into the selection pool. No application process is required.
 

SFAS Offers

There will be two kinds of admission offers: “Unconditional 4-year Admission Offer” and “Conditional 4-year Admission Offer”, depending on the examination score, academic result and/or interview performance of the applicants.

  1. Unconditional 4-year Admission Offer
    Students with “Unconditional 4-year Admission Offer” can be directly admitted to the pre-selected Undergraduate Programme after completing the AD Programme.
  2. Conditional 4-year Admission Offer
    Students with “Conditional 4-year Admission Offer” have to achieve the cGPA requirements of the AD Programme.

Students under both kinds of admission offer can obtain an Honours Degree awarded by HKBU in 4 years.

Extended SFAS #

Students who do not get the SFAS offers before admissions have another chances for the SFAS offers after admissions. Students meeting the following conditions may also get the Extended SFAS conditional offers.

# eSFAS offers to Mainland students will be subject to the availability of the admission quota as stipulated in the prevailing policy of The Education Bureau of The Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region.
* cGPA is unweighted cumulative average calculated for all subjects taken and the highest cGPA is 4.0.

Seamless Articulation Pathway to an HKBU Honours Degree

After completing the Associate Degree, students can articulate to the relevant Self-funded Undergraduate Programme and obtain an Honours Degree awarded by HKBU in 4 years without taking any additional courses.

Frequently Asked Questions

  1. What are the selection procedures for the Seamless 4-year Admission Scheme (SFAS)?
    Eligible applicants will be shortlisted into the selection pool. Applications of eligible students will be assessed according to the selection criteria set by the respective Faculty/Department of HKBU based on the academic performance of applicants. However, some HKBU Self-Funded Undergraduate Programmes applicants may be required to attend an interview# or admission assessment^.
  2. When will applicants be notified of the admission result?
    Eligible applicants will receive the offer letters of SFAS and AD programme on the same day once fulfill the scheme requirements. Students who are required to attend the interview or undergo the selection process, will have to wait for further notice. Successful candidates will receive an offer letter from HKBU Faculty / Department concerned in about 3 working days after they have attended the Undergraduate Programme interview or receive offer letters of AD programme, whichever is later.
  3. Is there any pre-requisite for AD graduates to progress their studies to the pre-selected Self-funded Undergraduate Programme?
    The College will issue “Unconditional Offer” or “Conditional Offer” to eligible AD applicants based on their academic results upon admission. Under SFAS, AD students with “Unconditional Offer” can progress directly to the pre-selected Undergraduate Programme upon graduation. Students with “Conditional Offer” must obtain a cGPA of 2.5* or above to progress to the pre-selected Self-funded Undergraduate Programme.
  4. How can students benefit from the SFAS?
    Under this Scheme, AD students would be given an offer letter of a pre-selected HKBU Self-funded Undergraduate Programme upon admission, and awarded an HKBU Honours Degree in 4 years. Students will be exempted from further application formalities and interview procedures, hence will be able to focus on their studies without any hassle.
  5. Compared with other articulation paths, what are the advantages for the direct articulation to HKBU Undergraduate programme?
    As CIE’s General Education (GE) units are recognised by HKBU, our AD graduates are exempted from taking GE courses when they progress to their undergraduate studies. Besides, students do not have to adapt to a new learning culture and study environment elsewhere, which enables students to focus and enhance their learning.
