The CIE Scholarship and Award Presentation Ceremony 2nd Semester 2014-2015 was held on 28 May.  More than 300 Associate Degree and Self-funded Undergraduate Programmes students were presented with scholarships and awards in recognition of their achievements in the areas of academic studies, extracurricular activities and community services in the past year. The Ceremony was well attended by lecturers, students and parents who came to witness this precious moment.

The honourable guests presenting the scholarships and awards included CIE Scholarship Donors Dr. Jonathan CHOI and Mr. Terrance YEUNG, Dr. Simon WONG, Dean of School of Continuing Education (SCE), HKBU, Dr. Lawrence TSANG, Associate Dean and Head of Administration, SCE, HKBU, Dr. Sam LAU, Director of CIE, Dr. LIANG Man Yu and Dr. Vicky LEE, Associate Heads of CIE, and Programme Directors of HKBU Self-funded Undergraduate Programmes.

Speaking at the ceremony, Dr. Simon WONG, Dean of SCE expressed his gratitude to CIE Scholarship Donors for their generosity and gave his heartfelt congratulations to awardees. He shared that he was delighted to know that awardees were granted scholarship not only because of the academic achievements but also their competence in non-academic areas like community service, outreach, and special talents. All these are the attributes of HKBU graduates. He hoped that students could treat the scholarships as an encouragement, and excel in different areas in the future.

In the sharing of Cecilia Ng (Chinese for Professional Purposes Concentration Studies Year 2, recipient of SPSS -“Outstanding Performance Scholarship”), she said her study experience at CIE was a fruitful and vibrant one. From joining the Taiwan academic study tour to interviewing the Hon. Jasper Tsang, Chairman of Legislative Council in the Liberal Studies Forum, she learnt that being a university student, one must accept his/her failure for achieving higher goals and continuous improvement.
