To let students understand more about the concept of “The Belt and Road Initiative” as well as to learn more about the latest financial and technological development in China, a group of 25 students from various Concentration Studies including Financial Management, Business Administration, Psychology, Tourism and Hospitality Management and History and Hong Kong Studies set off for a 5-day study tour to Shanghai this summer.
During the visit to the Bank of Communication, students had learnt more about the market trends of the financial industry in China by exchanging views and opinions with the senior management of the bank.
Besides, students attended lectures in Fudan University and Shanghai University respectively. Professors gave inspiring presentations on their researches on “The Belt and Road Initiative” so that students could have a better understanding about the policy. Professors also talked about the role and potential opportunities of Hong Kong acting as one of the financial centres of China.
Apart from academic activities, students had a chance to visit many attractions in Shanghai. For example, the Commercial Aircraft Corporation of China, Ltd. (COMAC) where they could observe the manufacturing process of the C919 commercial aircraft and learn about its financing channels. They also benefited a lot from their subsequent visits to Shanghai Stock Exchange, Shanghai Financial Centre, Shanghai Science and Technology Museum and appreciated Chinese culture in Shanghai Temple, Yu Garden, Tian Zi Fang and Soong Ching Ling Memorial Residence. In conclusion, it was a fruitful learning experience for all the students.
