Environmental Conservation Studies
The teachers at CIE are indeed conscientious and supportive. They provide a lot of opportunities to my schoolmates and me to learn not only from textbooks but also apply theories practically. I am also glad to have worked at WWF HK and GFO (Global Forest Observatory) during my internship, which helped me understand more about the conservation work in Hong Kong.

Beside the academic achievements, I participated in various ‘green’ activities. For example, I joined the Green Photo Competition and Green B-Dare Business Plan Competition, both of which provided me a chance to promote green message on campus. CIE provided me with the foundation of knowledge about food safety and food management so that I can pursue further studies and obtain food testing job opportunities. The College also encouraged students to join various experiential learning activities such as study tour, seminar, site visit and internship. My horizon was broadened and knowledge of food safety and management was enhanced through these activities and laboratory experiments such as sensory evaluation and food testing.

I am glad to be a CIE student. I had a fruitful and valuable college life in this well-equipped learning environment. Every CIE lecturer is passionate about teaching and what I appreciated most was their interaction with students and they were always around to support us. The AD programme is sophisticated and in-depth, which strengthened my foundation in science, and prepared myself well for further study in CUHK.

CIE emphasises General Education. The GE courses train our critical thinking and the interdisciplinary courses help me understand the part of food management in my Concentration Studies. For instance, I learnt marketing strategies from the Business course and promotion techniques from the Communication course. The courses are very effectively delivered and they prepare me well for my future career in the nutrition field.

General Education courses are very useful. Beside my Concentration Studies, I have to take courses in other areas such as mathematics and computing. And they came in very handy because my UG programme, Bioengineering, requires a lot of mathematical problem-solving and logical-thinking skills.
