* If one of the HKDSE subjects is “Citizenship and Social Development” (CSD), the minimum entrance requirement would become “Attained” for CSD and Level 2 in four other HKDSE subjects, including Chinese and English. Level 2 in Mathematics Extended Part (Module 1 or Module 2) is also recognised as one of the five HKDSE subjects in fulfilling the minimum entrance requirement.
Applicants can use Applied Learning subjects for admission purposes.
For non-Chinese speaking (NCS) students fulfilling one of the specified conditions in “Note 1”, "Attained" or above in Applied Learning Chinese would be accepted as an alternative Chinese Language qualification. For NCS HKDSE candidates applying for the Associate Degree Programme, the following alternative Chinese Language qualifications are also recognised by the College of International Education as equivalent to HKDSE Chinese Language:
Grade E or above in GCE A/AS Level Chinese; or
Grade C or above in GCSE/IGCSE/GCE O-Level Chinese.
Note 1: The specified conditions are:
(a). The candidates have learned Chinese Language for less than six years while receiving primary and secondary education; or
(b). The candidates have learned Chinese Language for six years or more in schools, but have been taught an adapted and simpler curriculum not normally applicable to the majority of students in local schools.
Non-Chinese speaking HKDSE candidates should upload their official GCE, GCSE, IGCSE or GCE O-Level Chinese results slip or certificate via MyCIE Application.

Music Studies

Shortlisted applicants for Music Studies will be notified of interview and audition arrangement by email and/or phone.
Instrumental requirement for Music Studies: Grade 8 in practical examination of the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music (ABRSM) or equivalent in standard. Applicants are required to attend and pass a face-to-face audition; no online arrangements are available. The list of instruments is as follows:

Required Information and Documents
Applicants are required to provide the following information and/or supporting documents in the application. If the required documents could not be provided, applicants should provide the documents during or after admission interviews by requests.
Admission interviews will be arranged from March to August. Applicants who are shortlisted to attend an admission interview will be notified by email and/or SMS about 7 days in advance. The interview date and venue will be provided in the notification.
Interview Format
The interview will be conducted in English in small groups of 3 to 6 people. The format for Music Studies and Sport and Recreation Studies (Associate Degree) may be an individual interview. Language proficiency, communication skills and general knowledge will be assessed.
Shortlisted applicants for Music Studies (Associate Degree) are required to attend an audition and interview.
Shortlisted applicants for Visual Arts (Associate Degree) should submit a portfolio at the time of the admission interview.
Applicants who require any special arrangements for the admission interview may make their requests with justifications/reasons by email to applycie@hkbu.edu.hk at least 3 working days in advance of the interview date.
