A guided tour of Tai Kwun Contemporary's exhibition "Performing Society: The Violence of Gender" was organised for Cultural Studies students on 23rd April. The exhibition, curated by Susanne Pfeffer, Director of MMK Museum of Modern Art in Frankfurt, introduced gender norms and showcased the exertion of social expectations as a form of power and violence on femininity and females' sexual roles. Through a series of videos, installations, and paintings, students explored how the binary structures of gender and stereotypical norms regulate females' freedom, particularly with regard to sexual identity and life.
