古今並蓄 動靜兼備 拓寬視野 收穫滿滿
人文及語言學部舉辦的台灣學術文化考察團2024已圓滿結束。同學在8天的行程中,透過課堂討論古今文學、參觀文化遺產建築及與知名作家對談,感受台灣學術氛圍和人文風景,啟迪思維,拓寬視野,收穫滿滿。
台灣學術文化考察團2024的行程安排非常緊密,內容豐富,主要圍繞戲劇、台灣電影、古典小說、文字學、寫作和文化遺產,從不同角度啟發同學,衝擊固有思維。
是次的學術交流活動獲台灣清華大學中國文學系鼎力支持與細心策劃,首先登場的是深受學生歡迎的羅仕龍博士,其講授主題為「現代戲劇與跨文化展演」,以嶄新角度闡釋中、西方戲劇的翻譯與版本之間的相互關係和影響。羅博士是「斜槓族₍slash₎」的先驅,既是學者、作家,也是戲劇策展人、廣播人,年輕人也受其感染,愛上戲劇。
第二天的「台灣電影與文學的城市文化」課程由陳智德博士主講。國際學院的同學心裏有個底:在台灣上課是用普通話的!但當陳博士開始講課時,同學有驚喜!原來陳博士是香港人,也曾在台、港兩地接受教育,既然大家是「同鄉」,「梗係用廣東話啦!」陳博士分析了台、港兩地七、八十年代的電影發展,了解兩地的時代變遷與影響。
接下來由張閏熙博士主講的「中國古典小說概論」課。張博士首先指出英文的「Novel」、「Fiction」跟中國的「小說」之間的差異,再談到中國在不同時期「小說的發展」,並述及傳奇、誌怪類等,為同學構建清晰的中國古典小說發展概念。
最後一課對同學的精神來說是最具挑戰的!當大家看到「古漢字淺談」的課表時,就在想方法如何避免在炎炎夏日上課打瞌睡?游文福博士相當了解年輕學生,設計了活動式教學,有「找找看」、有「觸感」,更有生活實例,讓同學在3小時的課堂上保持「動態學習」,打破同學對文字學的呆板印象。
除了上課,交流心得也是重要的元素。羅仕龍博士希望同學在寫作方面有所得着,專誠邀請著名作家兼清華大學老師楊佳嫻博士和從事寫作的學士班學生林子維到來跟同學互動,分享寫作的樂趣。同學也就個人的寫作問題,請教老師,互相激盪。大家歡渡了一個悠閒的下午,收穫滿滿。
考察團除了學術交流外,還包括參觀清華大學和陽明交通大學兩校的圖書館和校史館;也有文化遺產考察和野外觀賞。清華大學的校園非常優美,也具備生物多樣性的環境,座落人文社會學院後山的蝴蝶園,由學者和義工悉心護養,園內蝴蝶翩翩飛舞。蝴蝶園義工精彩的導賞內容,讓同學了解蝴蝶不同的成長階段。
來到行程最終站:參訪龍瑛宗文學館和姜阿新洋樓。這兩座歷史建築背後的故事,正正反映當代台灣社會的變遷與族群矛盾帶來的挑戰和應對。這兩個參觀活動,都由業權人的後裔或親屬擔任導賞員,故事聽來,更加撼動人心。
專業中文課程二年級龍嘉茵同學表示:「是次參與學術考察團,獲益良多,深刻體會到兩地的教學模式和學習氛圍的不同。在地學習的過程中,充份感受到當地老師悉心安排與指導,讓我們了解中西文學、漢字和中國文化的浩瀚。最重要的是兩地老師們對文學熱情和深厚文學底蘊,感染我更投入學習中文。」
CIE Students Embarked on a Transformative Cultural Learning to Hsinchu, Taiwan
As part of an exciting academic initiative, a group of students from College of International Education (CIE), HKBU embarked on a transformative learning journey to Taiwan to immerse themselves in the rich literary culture and solid language training.
During their week-long stay in Taiwan, the participants had the unique opportunity to engage in a diverse learning experience that went beyond textbooks and classrooms, from attending the summer programme at National Tsing Hua University to visiting century-old houses and exploring Hakka culture and cuisine in Beipu.
The summer programme this year offered students the opportunity to enhance their knowledge through intensive courses incorporating both modern and classical Chinese literature, including Dr. Shih-Lung Lo’s “Modern Drama and Cross-cultural Performance,” Dr. Chi-Tak Chan’s “Urban Culture in Taiwanese Films and Literature,” Dr. Jun-Hsi Chang’s “Introduction to Chinese Classical Fiction/Novels,” Dr. Boon-Hock Yew’s “Understanding Chinese Characters,” and hands-on learning opportunities. Students found Dr. Shih-Lung Lo’s lecture to be a highlight of the programme. His extensive expertise in both Chinese and Western literature captivated the students and deepened their understanding of drama from different cultures. Dr. Lo’s insightful teaching and engaging presentation style not only broadened the students’ knowledge but also sparked their curiosity to explore the connections between Chinese and Western dramas further.
Outside the traditional academic setting, students had the chance to meet and talk with both local student who is also a writer, and Dr. Chia-Hsien Yang, a distinguished contemporary Taiwanese writer and faculty member at National Tsing Hua University. The conversation and discussions left a lasting impact on the students, inspiring them to delve deeper into the world of writing and appreciate the cultural exchanges in the aspect of literature.
Throughout their time in Hsinchu, students were not only guided by experienced faculty members who provided support and mentorship along the way through their learning journey but also explored local communities. They visited the Long Ying-zong Literary Museum on a guided tour led by the granddaughter of Long Ying-zong, a significant first-generation nativist writer in Taiwanese literature. Additionally, they immersed themselves in the stories of Beipu tea merchant and county councillor Jiang A-sin during their visit to Jiang A-Sin Ancient House, a mansion with architectural styles incorporating Western and Japanese influences, decorated with elaborate wood carvings and the finest materials.
This study tour to Taiwan has been an eye-opening experience for the participants in the trip which fostered their cultural awareness and knowledge in literature.
