Active Team Ball Games – Basketball

This course aims to provide students with a basic understanding of the game of basketball, and to help students develop a habit of an active lifestyle. The course will introduce the basic skills and tactics of basketball. Students will get active in class by practicing various basketball skills, and they will experience the benefits of exercising. History and the development of the sport will be introduced to enhance the understanding of its characteristics. Students are required to summarise and apply their skills and tactics in games. Students will experience the excitement and mood improvement through games. Forming teams with classmates will also enhance students’ social connection. Upon completion of the course, students will develop the habit of exercising, recognise their own physical health, as well as improve on their social health.

Conditioning in Health and Fitness

This course aims to provide students with a basic understanding of contemporary issues of health-related physical fitness and healthy lifestyle through a series of physical fitness test battery and various physical activities. These physical activities will help to improve individuals’ physical fitness level and promote a positive attitude towards physical activity among students. The course will also provide students with an understanding of the principles of a healthy lifestyle for achieving health. Upon completion of this course, students will develop an appreciation of the importance of healthy lifestyle habits, and learn various exercises which aim to achieve the aforementioned objectives. Students will also undertake self-reflection of their own lifestyle and habits, and their experience within the aforementioned physical activities.

Developing Active Lifestyle – Badminton

This course aims to provide students with a basic understanding of the game of badminton, and to help students develop a habit of an active lifestyle. Stretch Your Body, Relax Your Mind

This course aims to acquaint students with basic concepts and movements behind stretching and Yoga / Pilates as types of mind-body conditioning exercises. Stretching helps to align body joints and enhance flexibility, whereas Yoga and Pilates improve posture, and keep muscles toned. Students will explore their own range of movements under guidance and develop heightened awareness of body alignment through practices in stretching and Yoga posture / Pilates mat work. Focusing the mind on physical actions not only ensures smooth and coherent movements, it also brings about a calmer state of mind and a soothing and stress -reducing effect for the individual. With regular practice of stretching and Yoga / Pilates exercises, students can develop a healthy lifestyle and enjoy the improvement of those health-related fitness components of their own bodies.

Water Fun 101

While many believe fear of water is too hard to overcome, that is not true. This course helps students to feel comfortable in the water by introducing the basic knowledge, techniques and water safety of selected water sports. Areas to be covered include water fun games, water aerobics, snorkelling and kayaking. It also covers the concepts of health, wellness and fitness and provides practical strategies for developing and maintaining an active and healthy lifestyle. Upon completion of this course, students will be able to enjoy the fun of water sports in a safe way, overcome their fears of water and utilise aforementioned aquatic activities to help facilitate an active and healthy lifestyle.
