Non-local Students Support Group
Students are encouraged to participate in different learning activities provided by CIE and the University. The Non-local Students Support Group organises a range of activities to facilitate students’ adjustment to the teaching and learning mode at CIE, including Exam Preparation Guidance Session, Interview Skills Workshop, Spring New Year and Mid-Autumn Festival gatherings, etc.
Orientation and Accommodation Information
Various support services and accommodation information are provided for non-local students to help them make the most of their college experience. At the beginning of the semester, the College will provide orientations and introduce new students to the academic, social and cultural life at CIE, to prepare them for a smooth transition to college study.
English Enhancement Courses *
English is the medium of instruction at CIE. Therefore, it is crucial for students to have a strong mastery of English language skills. To this effect, mainland students are required to complete a non-credit bearing English Enhancement Course during their first year of study at CIE. The course aims to help students acquire fundamental and essential language skills and develop their confidence in using English for communication and as a medium of learning.
Enrichment Courses
CIE offers the following enrichment courses to improve the language proficiency and skills of our students:
- Cantonese in Daily Life
- IELTS Preparation Module I (Reading and Speaking)
- IELTS Preparation Module II (Writing and Listening)
Students will be taught essential knowledge and skills to facilitate active participation in the AD curriculum.
