NUFM students went outside the classroom to learn some management skills and food production logistics through a site visit to a global leader in the beverage industry: Swire Coca-cola HK Ltd. In the site visit, students gained more knowledge on the history and the development of the Coca-Cola company. They understood the steps in make a beverage, and some technical concern in the setting of the production line. For example, students differentiated the operational uniqueness between soft drink and juice. They were illustrated how a can of drink is being produced, and how it is being improved in term of formulation and its image. After the visit, students were asked to evaluate the food service operation and the product ingredients. Students commented and compared the nutritional value of some new products sold in the company.
