Geography and Resources Management (GRMG) students attended the Geographic Information System (GIS) training workshop (地理及資源管理同學參與「地理信息系統」數據分析工作坊)

The Geographic Information System (GIS) is a system which helps us to visualise, analyse, and interpret data so as to understand what is happening and what will happen within a geographical location. Conducted by the Esri China Hong Kong Limited, the pioneer in GIS technology, the workshop enabled Geography and Resources Management (GRMG) students to understand the basic functions and applications of a GIS.  GRMG students have learnt how to visualize geographic data, create maps, query a GIS database, perform spatial analysis using geoprocessing analysis tools, and solve geographical problems. Students appreciate that GIS  has wide applications in the fields of environmental planning and management and is important for us to make the right decision in resources management.

GRMG students joined the GIS training workshop provided by the GIS specialist and analyst of Esri China HK Limited, including Billy Tsui and Louis Chiu and course lecturer, Dr. Karen Woo (front row 5th , 4th and 1st from left).
