Geography and Resources Management (GRMG) students attended a GIS training workshop provided by the Esri China Hong Kong Limited, a major world-wide GIS software developer. The workshop provides the foundation for understanding what GIS is and its applications in spatial and geographical analysis using ArcGIS software. Students were taught on how to visualize geographic data, create maps, query a GIS database, perform spatial analysis using common analysis tools, and solve geographical problems using a systematic approach. Students appreciate that GIS is quite a powerful tool and has wide applications in the fields of environmental planning and management and is important for us to make the right decision.
