The Federation for Self-financing Tertiary Education (FSTE) has launched its inaugural Teaching Excellence Award (TEA) in 2024 to recognise outstanding educators within the sector.

Among a total of 17 nominations from 10 self-funded institutions in Hong Kong, Dr. Connie Li and Dr. Yan Kwan, lecturers from the Division of Business received the “Honorable Mention” in team-teaching for their innovative project titled “Empowering Global-minded Changemakers: Revolutionizing Marketing Education with Social Innovation.” The project has successfully integrated social innovation into the undergraduate marketing curriculum, utilising structured service and experiential teaching pedagogies, inspiring over 50 social enterprises across Hong Kong, South Korea, Taiwan, and Singapore and 350 undergraduate and secondary school students to embrace the spirit of social entrepreneurship and innovation.

“We are deeply honored to receive the Honorable Mention in the FSTE Teaching Excellence Award. Our heartfelt gratitude goes to Prof. Ronald Chung, Dean of the School of Continuing Education at HKBU, for his nomination. Special thanks to Prof. Siu Wai-Sum, whose visionary insights inspired our project. We also thanked our students for their enthusiasm and creativity that drive our commitment to nurturing globally-minded changemakers,” shared Dr. Li.
