Dr. Roseann O’Reilly Runte, President of Carleton University visited CIE and delivered a talk entitled “Our Global Future: Networks and Pathways to Success” last month. In her talk, she raised deep questions about the purpose of education and the importance of broadening one’s horizons. Through personal stories of travels in Myanmar to winning a prestigious French poetry contest, Dr. Runte’s speech inspired students to dream big and be diligent in pursuing one’s ambitions.

Dr. Runte also stressed the importance of international education in an increasingly globalised age. She encouraged students to pursue educational opportunities overseas that would expand their horizons.

The talk was well received by the faculty and students. KHADKA Krishta (Year 2, Life Science) remarked: “Knowledge is not confined to one place or country. The more you explore, the more knowledge you gain.” CHAN Kar Kit Alex (Year 2, Life Science) said: “The talk inspired me to work harder to achieve my goals.”
