Two teams of Associate Degree students received the Proficiency Team Awards in the Accounting and Business Management Cases Competition 2012 - 2013 (Tertiary Institute Group) organized by the Hong Kong Institute of Accredited Accounting Technicians (HKIAAT) on 20 April 2013.

The winning teams were formed by Tang Lok Man, Yip Sin Wa, Yeung Cheuk Nga and Yip Chui Yan (Business Administration Year 2) and Tang Yip Keung, Wang Yi Han, Yao Xue Cong (Business Administration Year 1) and Tam Shi Sum (Professional Accountancy Year 1).

This year there was a total of 189 teams with 688 students from 21 tertiary institutions in Hong Kong and Mainland China joining the competition. The competition aims to enhance sub-degree students and prospective AAT Club members’ ability in using accounting information for business development and to enhance their soft skills as required by today’s business world.

The CIE winning team found the competition a fruitful experience in applying what they have learnt in class in developing a strategy for real business management cases.

Tang Lok Man said, “The competition has deepened our understanding of the business I have chosen and enriched my knowledge and skills in preparing a successful business plan. I would like to thank the organizer and CIE for offering us the opportunity to gain such an invaluable learning experience.”

Another student contestant, Tang Yip Keung said, “Working overnight during school term is really tough but memorable. I am most grateful to Dr. Elsa Wong for her guidance and support in entering this competition. I would no doubt encourage more fellow schoolmates to join next year.”
