CIE Scholarship and Award Presentation Ceremony

The 2013/14 CIE Scholarship and Award Presentation Ceremony was held earlier on June 3. More than 280 Associate Degree and Self-funded Undergraduate Programmes students were presented with awards, including the CIE Outstanding Service Award, CIE Special Talent Award, CIE Special Recognition Award, CIE Global Experience Fund and the EDB’s Self-financing Post-secondary Scholarship Scheme (SPSS), in recognition of their achievements in the areas of academic studies , extracurricular activities and community services in the past year. The Ceremony was attended by over 400 guests, including lecturers, students and parents who came to witness this precious moment.

 

The honourable guests presenting the awards included Scholarship donors, the Dean and Directors of School of Continue Education, Director of CIE, Members of the CIE Advisory Committee, and the Programme Directors of HKBU Self-funded Undergraduate Programmes.

 

Speaking at the ceremony, Dr. Simon Wong, Dean of School of Continue Education, HKBU, commended the commitment and efforts of the awardees in attaining the achievements. He encouraged students to realize their own potential and keep up with their good work. Apart from achieving good academic results, it is important for them to be a unique and responsible individual to contribute to the society, said the Dean.

 

Brian Yip Ching Fung, AD student from Sport and Recreation Studies and member of Hong Kong U20 Representative Football Team, was deeply honoured to have received the CIE Special Talent Award. At the sharing session, he said that it was important to strike a balance between academic studies and extracurricular activities. He believed that it was necessary to have good time management. In his case, physical exercise has helped to relieve stress and achieve satisfactory academic results.

 

In addition, prizes were presented to the CIE Green Ambassadors and the winners of the CIE Video Competition and CIE Writing Contest at the ceremony.
