CIE Students Volunteer in New World Harbour Race 2015
BackFourteen students from the Concentration Studies of Tourism and Hospitality Management volunteered as event ambassadors at the New World Harbour Race held earlier in October. More than 2,400 swimmers of various age groups and from different countries participated in this spectacular event this year.
Wong Shing Yui, Chester (Year 2, Tourism & Hospitality Management), an event ambassador said: “Although it was not easy to work as a volunteer under the sun for a whole day, we appreciated the opportunity for being able to assist in such a large event. Through positive working attitude, all of us have gained invaluable experience in event operations and hospitality management. It was also meaningful to make contribution to society.”
Established in September 2013, the Tourism & Hospitality Management Club (THX Club) aims at providing various outside-the-classroom learning opportunities for Associate Degree students studying Tourism and Hospitality Management. Students could acquire the essential knowledge and practical skills in tourism and hospitality management through the participation in placement activities, field trips, company visits and career talks organised by the Club.
