The CIE Team, consisting of Dr. Sam Lau, Dr. Vicky Lee, Ms. Sammy Ming and Ms. Sandy Chan, gave a presentation at the International Conference on the Development of English Across the Curriculum (EAC) at The Hong Kong Polytechnic University on 15 December.

The title of the  CIE presentation is “Combating the English literary crisis through Writing Across the Curriculum (WAC):  a case study at the Associate Degree (AD) level at Hong Kong Baptist University (HKBU) College of International Education (CIE). The presentation was based on a recent study on students’ dispositions towards English writing assessments and the collaborative efforts by both the subject lecturers and language lecturers in optimizing students’ learning experience in the disciplines, with the full support from management.

The Conference is organised through an inter-institution project entitled “Professional Development in Enhancing English Across the Curriculum” funded by the Hong Kong University Grants Committee. The UGC universities involved are The Hong Kong Polytechnic University, The Chinese University of Hong Kong, The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology and City University of Hong Kong. The Conference brought together scholars from over 15 countries.
