With our goal to further foster the global and intercultural awareness of our students, CIE recently launched its very own CIE International Exchange Programme. This marks the beginning of the College’s greater focus on Internationalisation; bridging HKBU CIE with the world beyond Hong Kong.

The first batch of exchange students from our partner institution, Temasek Polytechnic (TP), Singapore arrived at CIE in September joining the CIE family to kick start their new vibrant journey in Hong Kong. At CIE, they immerse themselves in lectures, research projects, global forums, heritage tours and a plethora of cultural activities spiced up with an intercultural flair. Accompanied by the proactive CIE International Ambassadors (IAs), they are to journey down the process of knowing Hong Kong. For the Singaporean exchange  students, a chance to fall in love with the city; for the IAs, a chance to fall in love again.

During the Launching Ceremony, Prof. Raymond So, Dean of the School of Continuing Education, HKBU observed: “Both Hong Kong and Singapore are world cities and share a similar historical and cultural background. I hope that students from both places will treasure this opportunity to learn from one another.” He also asked them to broaden their horizons and form connections that will serve as the foundation of their future network.

Mr. Peter Li, Director of the International Office, HKBU, also chimed in to encourage the exchange students to explore Hong Kong by joining different kinds of activities outside campus and understand Hong Kong from an economic, civil and political perspective.

For Solomon Siu, an Environmental Conservation Studies Year 2 student, he sees himself growing in areas he never thought he would.  He begins to understand and appreciate different races and creeds. This is global citizenship, and this is CIE’s ultimate goal.
