The 9th AD HERE Advertising Competition 2014 jointly organized by HKBU CIE and Sony Hong Kong draws the spotlight

(Hong Kong, 31 March 2014) The AD HERE Advertising Competition jointly organized by the College of International Education (CIE) and Sony Corporation of Hong Kong Limited (hereafter Sony Hong Kong) ended in rounds of applause. “Bon Appetit”, a team of six Associate Degree Year 2 students, won the championship.

 

Under the slogan of this year “Bring It On”, contestants had to design the most innovative integrated marketing communications campaign for Sony’s XperiaTM Tablet Z.

 

The final competition was held at HKBU Shek Mun Campus with the management representatives from Sony Hong Kong attending as the judges. Ms. Simois Ng, Senior Manager, Marketing and Communication Department of Sony Hong Kong, was not only amazed by the passion and enthusiasm of the students, but most impressed by the pitching of finalists as their presentations were comparable to that of the advertising agencies. When commenting on the winning team “Bon Appetit”, Ms. Ng said, “The whole promotion strategy is meticulously planned and the theme of “In search of cultural resonance” is neat and unique. To me, a good promotion strategy has to be creative, practical and cost effective. Bon Appetit’s proposal is able to strike a balance among these important elements.”

 

Lee King Sum, leader of Bon Appetit, said, “We always wanted to have a breakthrough in our creation since we joined the competition. While the other teams were focusing on selling the function of XperiaTM Table Z, we chose to stand out by something different. I would like to thank the lecturers of Creative Communication in coaching us throughout the preparation process. The championship is a recognition to my team’s hard work and an encouragement for starting a career in the field of PR and marketing in the near future.”

 

Organized by the Division of Communication of CIE, the AD HERE Advertising Competition has come to its 9th anniversary. With a view to cultivate students’ talents of applying theoretical knowledge, AD HERE collaborates with various well-known brands every year. The competition was positively received and appreciated by previous collaborators, including Epson, Puma, Nissin Foods, Ocean Park, Tempo, WWF, Wing On Travel and Nestle Hong Kong.
