The Student Development Centre (SDC) hosted an engaging Whole Person Development Workshop, the “Dream Catcher Workshop” in the Me-Time Corner. Led by Guidance Counsellor Mr. Arthur Cheung and supported by student helper Ruby, the workshop aimed to introduce participants to the art and cultural rituals of dream catchers.

During the workshop, Arthur shared the history and symbolism of dream catchers. He explained their traditional roles in filtering out negative dreams while allowing positive ones to pass through. Participants then started creating their own dream catchers, starting with simple knots to secure their materials to the hoop. They learned to incorporate repeated patterns into their designs, adding both texture and visual effects. By alternating knot types, students crafted intricate geometric shapes, adding personal expression and uniqueness in each piece.

The workshop also promoted SDC's free-to-use arts and crafts facilities, encouraging students to explore their creativity beyond the workshop. Many of them expressed a newfound interest in crafting, highlighting the importance of patience throughout the process because making a dream catcher requires dedication and time.

The Dream Catcher Workshop was one of the activities in the Whole Person Development Programme (WPDP) to promote creativity and cultural awareness. Through such initiatives, SDC aims to foster a supportive environment for personal growth and artistic expression.
